Do Japão surgiram nos últimos tempos algumas das propostas mais interessantes no seio do panorama actual das músicas alternativas. Depois da “descoberta” de grupos como os After Dinner, Wha Há Há ou Guernica pela Recommended Records, chega a vez da ala ritualística emergir, desta feita no selo italiano dirigido por Luciano Dari. Ao contrário de grupos como os Current 93, Lustmord, Hafler Trio, Nocturnal Emissions ou toda a nova geração de seguidores de Lúcifer que recuperam as práticas mágicas ancestrais para as orientar numa polaridade negativa, de acordo com práticas xamânicas e tântricas, visando a obtenção de poder, os Vasilisk mantêm-se fiéis ao telurismo amoral das origens, sem o recurso às técnicas de manipulação sonora e psíquica habituais neste tipo de experiências.
Em “Liberation & Ecstasy” (que inclui novas versões de temas de anteriores trabalhos como “Whirling Dervishes”, “Mkwaju” e “Acqua”) as percussões rituais minimalistas alternam com sons naturais e fragmentos de música tradicional japonesa, na criação de texturas exóticas e de cadências hipnóticas que, nos 15 minutos do longo cerimonial “Whirling Dervishes”, atingem o clímax.

Ouvi ontem na íntegra o CD (duplo) de Ryoji Ikeda, “Matrix” (ed. Touch). Enquanto o segundo CD, com duração de cerca de meia-hora de duração se pode comparar, de facto (com alguma boa vontade, é certo…), com uns Pan Sonic mais frios e subliminares, o primeiro CD nem sequer se pode considerar “música” no sentido mais vulgar do termo.

Trata-se de uma série de faixas preenchidas por frequências electrónicas puras, ou brancas, se quiserem, estilo “White noise” liofilizado, cujo efeito é “temperar” o espaço acústico da sala de audições. O efeito é, de facto, e por razões extra-musicais, surpreendente. Consoante o modo como nos situamos em frente, atrás, ao lado, longe ou afastados das colunas, o som muda radicalmente. Parece quase um truque de ilusionismo! Basta deslocarmo-nos um metro para a direita ou para a esquerda para o som adquirir uma pulsação que na posição anterior não era possível detectar.

Mesmo sentados de frente, basta mudar ligeiramente a posição da cabeça para o som se “apagar”, quase desaparecer, para logo a seguir mostrar uma ligeira modificação de cor. Não se trata de efeitos de estereofonia relacionados com a disposição das colunas (o chamado “palco sonoro”, para os audiófilos) mas de uma efectiva “inundação/metamorfose” do espaço acústico.

Claro que musicalmente, é uma seca monumental! Digamos, então, que se trata de um disco científico, como parece que são, aliás, os anteriores trabalhos deste japonês.
