Conotado presentemente com o movimento p\u00f3s-rock, os EDD, ap\u00f3s algumas altera\u00e7\u00f5es, s\u00e3o hoje um trio formado por rick Rizzo, na guitarra (trabalhou com os Palace), Janet Beveridge Bean, bateria e voz (fez parte dos Freakwater) e Doug McCombs (grava\u00e7\u00f5es com os Tortoise). John McEntire &#8211; dos Tortoise, entidade cada vez mais tentacular no caldeir\u00e3o de Chicago &#8211; gravou, misturou e tocou teclados e sintetizadores. \u00c9 precisamente da sua contribui\u00e7\u00e3o que deriva a faceta mais interesante de \u201cEight\u201d, nos instrumentais electr\u00f3nicos \u201cWrites a letter home\u201d e \u201cView from the rim\u201d, os quais permitem a refr\u00eancia obrigat\u00f3ria ao \u201ckrautrock\u201d &#8211; para utilizar o bord\u00e3o utilizado nos \u00faltimos n\u00fameros da revista \u201cMagnet\u201d &#8211; que s\u00e3o, neste caso, os Harmonia. \u00c9 um \u00e1lbum perme\u00e1vel \u00e0 nostalgia das bandas da Factory de Manchester (\u201cLast Call\u201d), marcado pelas harmoniza\u00e7\u00f5es vocais de Rizzo e Bean, quais B-52 numa onda de do\u00e7aria conceptual, em \u201cTwo smart cookies\u201d, e periodicamente estilha\u00e7ado por convuls\u00f5es arrastadas de guitarras, em temas como \u201cFor a king\u201d e \u201cMotion sickness\u201d, este \u00faltimo num novelo infernal com os sintetizadores de McEntire, a fazer lembrar bastante a sonoridade dos Rome.
