Armados os tr\u00eas de \u201ctheremins\u201d (aparelho electr\u00f3nico anterior aos sintetizadores, popularizado por \u201cGood vibrations\u201d, dos Beach Boys, e actualmente de novo em voga), Kris Thompson, Jon Bernhardt e Brendan Quinn, juntamente com a guitarra de Ramona Herboldsheimer, desenham um \u201cspace-rock\u201d \u201ckitsch\u201d, algures entre os Laika e a mec\u00e2nica sem rodas dentadas dos Stars of the Lid. A f\u00f3rmula repete-se de faixa para faixa: uma guitarra el\u00e9ctrica dormente e sem grandes pretens\u00f5es mel\u00f3dicas arrasta-se sobre a massa de efeitos criados pelo conjunto de \u201ctheremins\u201d, sem d\u00favida, as estrelas da companhia que, na maior parte do tempo, se entret\u00e9m a fazer o tipo de glissandos c\u00f3smicos que os Hawkwind produziam com os seus osciladores, h\u00e1 quase 30 anos, em \u00e1lbuns como \u201cIn Search of Space\u201d. Mas h\u00e1 um lado apelativo nesta m\u00fasica instrumental que parece derreter-se no pr\u00f3prio instante em que nasce, sugada pelo buraco negro da obsess\u00e3o pelo arca\u00edsmo dos \u201ctheremins\u201d: uma estranheza que, num tema como \u201cThe cat &#038; the mean old man\u201d, lembra as disformidades pop dos Pere Ubu, para em \u201cTrem, as well\u201d se perder definitivamente nas trevas do espa\u00e7o exterior, enquanto o violino de Brendan Quinn empresta a \u201cThe coronation of king Lothar\u201d um tom velvetiano. Mas faltam astros \u00e0 gal\u00e1xia in\u00f3spita dos Lothars.
