Os \u201cblues\u201d brancos atingiram igualmente o apogeu, sendo o g\u00e9nero praticado pela maioria das bandas brit\u00e2nicas da \u00e9poca, enveredando gradualmente parte delas pela \u201cprogressive music\u201d, na passagem para a d\u00e9cada seguinte. John Mayall, um caso s\u00e9rio de fidelidade aos \u201cblues\u201d, ao ponto de continuar a dedicar-se a este g\u00e9nero musical no \u00e1lbum novo j\u00e1 deste ano, \u201cWake up call\u201d, foi um dos principais cultores do movimento. Influenciado por Josh White e pelo grande Big Bill Broonzy, Mayall tocou com Alexis Korner, um dos gurus dos \u201cbluesmen\u201d ingleses, formando mais tarde os Blues Syndicate e posteriormente os Blues Breakers, banda que ainda hoje o acompanha.<br \/>\n\u201cLondon blues\u201d, abrangendo o seu melhor per\u00edodo, \u00e9 um festival de \u201cfeeling\u201d e de proezas guitarr\u00edsticas assinadas n\u00e3o s\u00f3 por si como pelas futuras estrelas Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor e Peter Green, este prematuramente desaparecido, membro da forma\u00e7\u00e3o inicial dos Fleetwood Mac, ao lado de John McVie e Mick Fleetwood, tamb\u00e9m participantes no disco. Outros nomes importantes aqui presentes incluem John Almond e Jon Mark (que viriam a constituir a forma\u00e7\u00e3o de \u201cblues progressivo\u201d Mark-Almond), Paul Butterfield e Dick Heckstall-Smith, da banda de jazzrock If. Na bateria figuram Aynsley Dunbar (tocou com Frank Zappa), Keef Hartley e Jon Hiseman, l\u00edderes respectivos das bandas de \u201cblues progressivo\u201d Aynsley Dunbar Rataliation, Keef Hartley Band e Colosseum. Chris Mercer, Alan Skidmore e Henry Lowther, nomes-chave da cena de novo jazz brit\u00e2nico que ent\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m despontava, participam igualmente nestas grava\u00e7\u00f5es, extra\u00eddas, entre outros, dos \u00e1lbuns \u201cBluesbreakers with Eric Clapton\u201d, \u201cA Hard Road\u201d, \u201cRaw Blues\u201d, \u201cThe Blues Alone\u201d, \u201cBare Wires\u201d e \u201cBlues from Laurel Canyon\u201d, bem como lados A e B de singles. Um bom complemento para a caixa recentemente editada dos Canned Heat.
