Editado no mesmo ano que \u201cJune 1, 1974\u201d, m\u00edtica reuni\u00e3o ao vivo do ex-Velvet Underground (n\u00e3o vamos levar muito a s\u00e9rio a actual reforma\u00e7\u00e3o do grupo) com Kevin Ayers, Brian Eno e Nico, \u201cFear\u201d tem de comum com aquele a sonoridade abrasiva que, em parte, resultou da presen\u00e7a nos dois discos da guitarra de Phil Manzanera. Eno \u00e9 outra das presen\u00e7as determinantes no som geral de \u201cFear\u201d, nos arranjos mais ambientais de \u201cEmily\u201d, \u201cThe man who couldn\u2019t afford to orgy\u201d, e \u201cYou know more than I know\u201d. Compositor irregular, alternando o genial com o vulgar, Cale estava nesta altura em grande forma, agressivo e incisivo na guitarra, despindo as luvas de boxe ao piano, fazendo passar da melhor maneira o habitual pendor liter\u00e1rio dos seus textos. O \u201cmedo \u00e9 o melhor amigo do homem\u201d, cantava ele no tema de abertura. John Cale soube tirar o melhor partido de t\u00e3o perigosa amizade.
